Zacatecas, Mexico

I know that I always say I love my job…but I really do - especially when I get to shoot in towns like this! Zacatecas is a 16th century Spanish colonial silver mining town in the heart of Mexico. This wedding is one of my all-time favorites. I absolutely adore Mexico and this was an amazing group of people to work with! Regina and Zaheen are two of the kindest people I have ever met and they are incredibly easy to photograph. Their friends and family could not have been more fun to be around and Lisa Vorce and Mindy Rice designed yet another innovative event unlike anything I have seen in quite awhile. The talent they posses is unbelievable. I am a huge fan of anyone who steps out on a limb to do something different and this wedding went out on a lot of limbs (calculated of course!) and it paid off at every turn. The ceremony took place in a 16th century convent where the roof of the chapel has slowly eroded away making it the first 400+-year-old church without a roof I have ever shot in. The reception was held in the remains of a 16th century bullring (not used anymore) with an aqueduct that flows over it. The only place that fresh flowers were used was in Regina and the Bridesmaids’ bouquets. The groom did not wear a boutonniere by choice leaving the rest of the event to be designed using paper flowers. It was truly amazing. For the little flower girls, Lisa and Mindy went with Frida Kahlo inspired head-bands. The wedding moved from one end of Zacatecas to the other covering most of the city in the process. The bride and groom were transported from the cocktail hour outside the old convent to the bullring in an old classic Cadillac that I fell in love with. I would really like to thank Snippet and Ink for running such an amazing post, Lisa Vorce and Mindy Rice for being that good at this, and of course Regina and Zaheen for not only being incredibly easy to work with but for also being huge fans of what we all do. They just jumped in and let us all do our thing the very best way we all know how. A special thanks to Brett Hillyard over at hillycollective.com for the amazing type design on my image of Zacatecas. Brett is a brilliant designer and photographer. Brett’s design was intended to capture communicate the location in a clean representation without taking away from the photograph. The colors used really compliment the culture and architecture of Zacatecas.

It is very important that the following copyright notice is respected. There is a publication agreement in place for this event. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for capturing the magic that was one of my best friend's most special days. You've done an exquisite job.

oh! And P.S. the bridesmaid's bouquets were actually all paper flowers, too... Regina's bouquet (which smelled like heaven) was the only one with fresh flowers. Her inner and outer beauty sparkled more than ever that day. So. Amazing.
