So happy to be a part of Martha Stewart Weddings Winter issue! This was truly an amazing wedding to be a part of. Thanks as usual to the unbelievably talented team over at Martha Stewart. I am always so happy with their treatment of our images! If you don’t already have this issue (although I am sure you do), then go pick it up. It is huge and full of all kinds of amazing ideas and beautiful weddings!
We shot this wedding in the first week of April and as the saying goes about May flowers…. It rained a lot! So much so that the river that runs through Carnation Washington broke it’s banks and flooded the entire valley… the valley I really wanted to shoot in. Every cloud has a silver lining and the rising water made for some incredibly unique images. I have decided that while everyone wants a sunny day for their wedding, every time we get really extreme weather the images are just as good if not better than if the sun had been there in the first place! It never stopped raining. I think it rained for 48 hours straight and it was not a light rain at all, it poured. Carnation is 45 minutes out of Seattle so I should not have expected anything less. This was definitely the right couple for this kind of weather. They are used to it and it did not phase them one bit. They were so easy going and adaptable and I just love them for it! Thanks so much to them both. The wedding took place at the old Carnation Milk factory and it was yet another unbelievable event by Lisa Vorce, Mindy Rice, and team. I like working with just about everyone I come across but this group is especially fun to be around. They are always pushing their designs forward and it’s really inspiring to work in that kind of environment. They planned well ahead and designed a rain proof event from start to finish. Two of my favorite elements were the tepees they brought in for guests to hang out in and the very cool custom made chair covers. Below is the result.

A couple of Lanie and Matt’s Beaver Creek wedding photos popped up in December’s issue of Town and Country in the Social Network section of the magazine. We just shot another wedding in Vail in a snow storm and it was AMAZING! Can’t wait for everyone to see it.
Wedding Nouveau is one of my absolute favorite publications. If you are not already familiar with it, then you should be! I am so honored to have been asked to provide content for the current issue and there is even a little interview in there about me. Thanks so much to everyone at Wedding Nouveau for pouring their heart and soul into this magazine. It fills a unique void in the market with an emphasis on cultural diversity. It is really stunning!
