An Amazing Destination!

Check out the new cover story in this months InStyle Weddings. It's a fantastic spread for the upcoming wedding of Roselyn Sanchez and Eric Winter in Puerto Rico. We did not photograph the fashion spread in this issue but we are shooting the wedding. This story was photographed by the amazing fashion photographer Brian Bowen Smith. This wedding is shaping up to be an epic event. I don't think you can ask for two better looking individuals to photograph and to cap it all off... they're just really kind and down to earth. As you know, Roselyn is one of the stars of Without A Trace and has appeared in too many films to list here including Rush Hour 2 and Yellow. Eric Winter just completed a new film with Katherine Heigl called The Ugly Truth that is due out next year. In the Fall you can catch him in his recurring role on Brothers And Sisters as Jason McCallister along with the numerous other projects he's involved in at the moment. We feel so honored to be chosen to be the exclusive photographers for this wedding. Pick up a copy of InStyle Weddings then check back later on !

Janet and Roy, Culver Studios

The "wedding season" is upon us and this was a great way to kick it off! Janet and Roy's wedding was really out of the box and I loved it.They got married at Culver Studios in Culver City which is where some of the greatest films of all time were made. Gone With the Wind, the original King Kong, and It's a Wonderful Life are just a few of the masterpieces filmed on this lot. The wedding ceremony and reception were held in one of the largest sound stages I have ever been in. Carolyn Chen put this wedding together and really did an AMAZING job! This is a very difficult space to design in because there is nothing there to start with. I had been on the property before the wedding day and seen what they were working with...a blank slate (A designer's dream) By the time Carolyn and her team finished, I did not recognize the space I had seen in my previous visit. I loved this wedding! Culver Studios is an awesome place to get married and everyone there was easy to work with. This wedding proved to be the most difficult wedding I have ever photographed from a technical standpoint. Everything was black (one of the reasons it looks so cool) but black duvateen which is basically black velvet walls with no ceiling to bounce light off of combined with black floors and black table tops gives a bit of a challenge. This is where I realize that having a BFA in photography from Art Center and having worked in NYC at the highest level of the adverting market pays off! Janet and Roy are so sweet and fun to be around. They were really game for anything and are so easy to photograph. Janet was absolutely stunning. Here are some images from the event. I will let you all know who is going to publish it and when.

Baby Gage

This past Saturday I flew out to Scottsdale, Arizona to photograph April and Nick's adorable new addition, Gage. The kid is so darn cute. I did not think for a minute that the two of them would produce anything but an adorable kid. I really had a fantastic time spending the day with them all. My kind of peeps! You can find April and Nick's wedding in the wedding gallery section of the blog. Enjoy the baby photos of three week old Gage!

Joy and Steve, The Montage

Here is a little story board from Joy and Steve's wedding at the montage recently. I will be adding a gallery to this post soon. Paula Laskelle did an amazing job with this wedding and is one of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege to work with in this business. Joy and Steve... equally as kind and fun to be around. They were so easy to photograph and I really had a great time. More to come.....

NYC

My old hometown! This was the last wedding of 2007 for me and it could not have been a better end to my year. Betsy and Van (and their kids) were married at Columbia University in one of the oldest churches in New York. After the ceremony, they had an amazing reception on a rooftop terrace high above the Upper West Side looking back on Midtown Manhattan. I loved it. I stayed in my old neighborhood at The Carlyle. I used to live right down the street on 77th. Betsy got ready at the Carlyle and was absolutely stunning! All of the walking photos are the bridal party navigating their way through the streets from the church to the reception while accompanied by a bagpiper... and the sound on NYC traffic. It was really cool. It was fun to have this be the end of my year because it's where my photography career started. Jen and I left from this wedding and went right to Paris for 2 weeks of much needed vacation. Betsy may be the person most responsible for my return to blogging. She manages and reps artists and kept on me to get this thing going full time. Thanks Betsy! I photographed them earlier in the year in Monterey for a portrait session and the New York Times picked up the story in the wedding section for the Sunday Times. Side Note: I photographed the publisher of the New York Times, Arthur Sulzberger Jr., a few of years ago before I was a full time wedding guy. I will have to find a photo from that shoot to post.

Style Me Pretty

There are several outstanding bridal blogs out there that I like to look at on a daily basis. The good ones are so inspiring and really help keep me up to date on all the latest and greatest in the wedding world. One of my absolute favorites is Abby Jean's Style Me Pretty. You can generally find me in their Little Black Book of Vendors but yesterday Abby decided to write about our new website and blog on her journal page. Many, many thanks Abby! Check out www.stylemepretty.com if you are not already familiar with it. It's really fantastic!

Jaclyn and Dan's Wedding

Here's another absolutely beautiful bride... Jaclyn and Dan were married recently in Southern California. The ceremony took place in Dana Point at St. Edward's Church and the reception that followed was at The Montage Resort and Spa. It was a weird weather day... Super sunny and then heavy fog.... back to super sunny. Shooting in the fog was really cool. I always try and remind people that some of the best and most interesting light can come out of situations like this. I think they had the best of both worlds. I absolutely loved working with everyone involved in this wedding. Jaclyn and Dan and their families were amazing. Jeannie Savage and her team from Details Details are always on the ball and are always awesome to work with. Sunny and her team from White Lilac did all of the florals. Elysium Video Productions were there too. We love working with them. Jaime Snyder and her people at the Montage are amazing. I love it when my job is this much fun!

The Real Housewives of the OC

I recently had the privilege of photographing Lauri Waring's wedding to George Peterson in Southern California. Lauri as everyone knows, is one of the stars of Bravo's The Real Housewives of the OC. Lauri, Goerge and their kids were so much fun to work with. One of the most enjoyable weddings I have ever photographed. Barbara Wallace put the event together and Alex over at Elysium did all of the actual video coverage for the show. The wedding aired on The Housewives a couple weeks ago but I am sure it will replay soon. I will keep you posted. If you have not already seen the images of their wedding on my website, check them out. Lauri also has a bunch of images on her site at www.lauriwaring.com Lauri gets something like 50,000+ hits a day on her website. You can also check in with her Bravo blog to see when the wedding show will air again http://www.bravotv.com/blog/lauriwaring
